What we go through to make you your food

Posted by Chewy on Saturday, July 14th, 2007

I know people read food blogs in hopes of seeing some awesome, delicious, beautiful food porn photos. But instead I’m gonna gross you out by showing you what happened to me during service tonight. Hell, it grossed me out:

burnie.jpg

That’s a burn, son. From 375 degree oil. My hand modeling career is totally over. The sous chef even completed my night by accidentally hitting me over the head with a frying pan. Chef was calling me “Burnie” until one of the servers topped him by calling me “Leper”.

Now, to make YOU feel better, I’m gonna post the cutest photo of Pokey. Missing teeth and all:

  6. I splatter hot brown butter on my right arm yesterday. I cried out, “Again!”. Chef laughed at me. I laughed at myself. While crying, that is.

I wanna go out to the front of the house whenever someone gets impatient over waiting for their food and shove my hand in their face and yell, “Chill!”.

Bless you norms for your concerns.

  8. been there, done that. I have a lovely scar on one of my hands where I had boiling water get into my cut glove and latex glove over that. Best part was when I found the manager and asked him all cool like to help me bind up my hand, total freak out on his part.

Take care and keep that clean!

  11. Even more telling are the various other marks on your hand and arm, leftovers from other kitchen injuries, no doubt. All kitchen staff have my total respect.

  12. Wait, what is the tag exactly? “five new places to eat in the area” or the specific categories you listed?

  14. That’s pretty nasty. I got scalded by boiling hot spaghetti sauce and it was really very painful. All for the love of my kids who love to eat spaghetti.
